Mourning

Mourning
heartwrenching plea
"Why, oh why, must it be?"
Thunderstorms of torrential tears
death unwarranted, life ends tragically
Robert's last moments, filled with fear
beaten horrendously
Now, forever
mourning.

Poetry style: Rictameter

Dedicated to 15-year-old Robert Maisonet who had a short, tragic life. His father was murdered when he was only two. His mother died of cervical cancer seven years later. On Saturday, January 7, 2006, in broad daylight and on a busy street, Robert was jumped by three teens, while a fourth waited in their getaway SUV. Now his 14-year-old sister is the only surviving member in his immediate family. May she find comfort in her uncles, aunts and cousins who've taken care of the young Robert and his sister since he was 2.

To this day, Robert's assailants are unnaccounted for.

Because of our community, a special fund was created at Downey Savings. Hopefully the Robert Maisonet Memorial Fund will help pay for the expenses incurred through his untimely death. The community is also grateful that the Carole Sund Foundation will assist with a reward to help capture the four assailants (three attackers, one driver).

Anyone with information is asked to call sheriff's homicide detectives John Linke or Ken Clark at (916) 874-5057 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. After hours, call (916) 874-5115
